Resident Advisor

YO YO YO,
I just found an interesting list in Resident Advisor. Here are the top Djs of 2009.
I would never imagine Hawtin would be n. 1. Good for him, he deserved it.
In top 10 we also have Magda, Loco Dice and Voorn.

Check it out

And here is a picture of Hawtin (1) with Villalobos (2) looking like they are off their tits.

Bald Germans=Good Tunes

We all know the baldies know their way around the decks. HOSH and Stimming are both killer and have serious hair loss problems. Well i take that back, maybe they choose to shave their heads and thats fine with me as long as they are still delivering the goodies. Anyway, Stimming has just released some new tracks. As many other german words its incredibly long and there is no way I could actually say it.
Check it out:
Gaensebluemchen- Anyone have any clue on what it means? The point is that these three tracks are pretty killer.

Also, I found some more quality stuff by Hobo.

Hobo-Trackz

Hope you people enjoy!

Two for Tuesday

Lemons. Wine. That's what's written on my hand at the moment, and I'm not sure why. I think it has something to do with bringing those items on a cold bike ride to the Marais for mulled wine. Could be anything though.

Got a selection of tunes for y'all, cleverly set up as pairs of originals and a remix. Plus some must-have singles:

The Ease - Moonbootica
The Ease (Fukkk Offf remix) - Moonbootica

The Voice From Planet Love - Precious System ...'Have no fear, we are your friends'
The Voice From Planet Love (Dixon Chic-A-Go Edit) - Precious System

Hot Rod - Formatb
Hot Rod (Hugo remix) - Formatb

Gliese 581c - South District ...This one is amazing, awesome layering on the build-up

Don't You Want Me (Derrick Carter remix) - Human League ...classic 80's synthpop, perfect for all your cocaine party needs

Keep it real and enjoy

Can I have some change?!

YO YO YO,
Here is a quicky. Being in Mineiros (Goias, BR) isn´t easy. Anyway, thanks to Magda, I checked out some of the names in the tracklist of Fabric 49. Thats where I found Hobo. This Canadian shows that he really has some talent. I found a record released in 2008 called From A to B. And its genious.

Hobo- From A to B

Brazil, ta ra ra ra ra ra ra raaa, Brazil!

Yo,
the last time I tried watching the movie Brazil, me and four other people ended up passed out stuck to a couch. Thank god being in Brazil is not a boring as the Movie. I arrived this morning. Crazy ass weather here. One minute there is no rain and it sunny and the next you are soaking wet. But its hot, really hot. Leaving from a high of 0 C to a low of 30 C can mess you up! My blood is too thick for this. I sure all my NYE pictures ill be super sweaty. But hey thats better than having only snow angels pictures. The flight was kinda brutal, the only thing that finally got me to sleep was Fact and Fiction, by Magda!
Anyway, Ill keep this short. Even though the month of Nov. is technically over, id still like to share Thomas Schumachers top 10:

01 - Redshape - Rorschach's Game
02 - Stimming - Buxton pipes
03 - Thomas Schumacher - NYC
04 - Floating Points - Vacuum Boogie
05 - Trus'me - W.A.R Dub
06 - Martyn - Elden St (Sebo K Watergate Edit)
07 - Modeselektor - Cash
08 - Radio Slave - Orchestrating Maneuvres in the Dark (Patrick Lindsey & M.in Remix)
09 - Justin Martin & Claude VonStroke - Beat That Bird (Donk Boys Remix)
10 - Motor City Drum Ensemble - Satellites

The first five tracks are brilliant!!

Schumacher

Even though Nextron, the elite music elf, had a bad time at Michel Ciels I believe he had some recommendations that are worth mentioning.

01_Destination Danger – Du Rififi Au Katanga
02_Die Voegel – Petardo
03_Mateo & Matos – Homeboys Groove
04_Clark Davis – Access
05_Steve Lawler – Hocus Pocus (Radio Slaves Mole People Mix)
06_Guti – Triciclos
07_Motor City Drum Ensemble – Satellites
08_Tony Lionni – Treat Me Right (Jimpster Edit)
09_Santos – La Pineta
10_Alex Picone – Mon Amour

Hope you loved it more than I did!

Techy Monday

Hey everyone, hope you had a nice weekend.

I didn't do much, saw Michel Cleis on Friday but the club and the people were such shit I had to leave earlier than I wanted. I could totally go on a huge rant about all that but I'll refrain, for your sake.

This is a picture of an enormous disco ball being suspended over the French Senate in the Jardin Luxembourg. Crazy shit I randomly found while attempting to rollerblade.

I'm looking forward to hearing Obama's plan for Afghan reinforcements tomorrow, it will signal a big shift in the war and the current White House foreign policy. Could be brilliant, could be more of the same. We'll see.

Here's a little selection from what I've dug up around the interwebs, some tech-house, minimal, etc, as usual the good stuff:

Something is Raw - STL a nice track from Fabric 42, grab the whole thing its great.

Lord Only Knows - Lump 'I don't undastand ya baby...I was born in Alabama'

Truly - Floating Points an almost broken beat with a partially soothing melody

For Those Who Like to Get Down - Marques Wyatt 'I have written a song specifically for...'

Sundaze Strings - Andry Nalin from the Zurich Session collection, a prime example of deep/tech-house

Marrakech (Noir v Martinez edit) - Hermanez heard this one in several mixes, got a subtle mid thats pretty nice; from Dark Stars 3

Enjoy and have a good week!

Ack! Its been a while since we've updated, so my lunch break today will be devoted to providing music just for you.

By the way, anyone else really disappointed with the nominations for EU President and Foreign Minister? Seriously. You're droppin the ball on a great opportunity, EU. Kinda like the U.S. after the Cold War, at the battle of Tora Bora, or not going for Berlin.

A selection from Global Noises October:

Heres a great song in German:

And a good assortment of tech-house, minimal, and techno. In that order.

Oh crap, boss is comin my way

enjoy!

Im in love with Magda

YO YO YO YO!

I guess this should have come yesterday with my other post, but I dont care, Magda deserves more than one mention. After listening to Fabric 49 approximately 8 times in the last 24 hours. So I decided to go out and look for some more of her mixes.
Fact and Fiction is one of the first mixes released by her. The impact of this album was huge, cause its what got her into noticed by Richie Hawtin.

Also I would like to give you a great compilation by Sebo K called Watergate 04. Like Fabric, Watergate also releases mixes and compilations.

Check out the tracklist:
01 dOP - Intro
02 Rick Wade - Night Station
03 Koljah & Oliver Deutschmann - Eaten Back To Life
04 Mood II Swing - Move Me
05 dOP - Cold World
06 Session Victim - Contribute
07 Daze Maxim - Strange Things / Patrice Scott - Excursions
08 Blagger - Strange Behaviour
09 Agnes - Who Cares
10 Martyn - Elden St
11 RNDM - Wakefield
12 Je Davu - Music Got You Movin

Magda, wikipedia says you are a municipality in Brazil!

When I first read the name Magdalena Chojnacka, I thought of a polish immigrant (like Lukas Podolski and Miroslav Klose{weirdly enough both also have national handball players as mothers}) who went to Germany for better opportunities. Apparently this was an extremely stereotypical view of her. Sorry Magda. Born in Poland, but living most of her life away (in Detroit and Berlin), it seems she got the best of both continents, getting herself into Richie Hawtin's label Minus. Now this girl is everywhere, doing the essential mix (with Dubfire, Richie Hawtin and Loco Dice) and doing a mix for Fabric (# 49).

Fabric 49 is an incredible mix. I strongly recommend downloading it. Check out the tracklist:

01. Goblin – Al Margini Della Follia / Bostro Pesopeo – Falls (Hercules & Love Affair Remix) / Marc Houle – Voices
02. Circlesquare - Non-Revival Alarm / Gaiser – mfnstmp
03. Magda - At The Gate / Artem Folevski - Empörung (Original Mix) / Groupshow – It’s Not Just Country Birds That Are Attracted (To The Blue Glass Bird Bath)
04. Cristian Vogel - Mungo / Magda - Draculan Love Attack
05. Goblin - Buio Omega (Alternate) / Magda - Moroder's Revenge
06. Catorze – Luscofusco / Marc Houle - Deep Sea / Heartthrob - Miss Pig
07. Robert Babicz – Chordy / Madato - The Night's Rumors
08. Click Box - Bad Fish (Magda Edit) / Boosty – Telescope
09. Artem Folevski - Guido / Isomer Transition - San Pellegrino
10. Hobo - 23:59 / Luciano – Saulitude
11. Marc Houle – Profounding / Yello – Heavy Whispers
12. Heartthrob – 101 Loop / Farben – Aufschlag/Abschlag
13. Hobo - Mobius Trip / Rafael Droors – Blue
14. Bruno Pronsato - We Were... / Arsenal – The Coming (Idjut Boys Version 2)
15. Jimmy Edgar - Beat Squared / Jan Jelinek - Tierbeobachtungen (Live Played By Anne Westphalen & Peter Ley)

The essential mix was also a very good one. Im a huge fan of Loco Dice and Richie Hawtin and now Im obsessed with Magda, so they did not disappoint.
Essential Mix

The Detroit minimal scene is crazy, and this is why i decided to check up on some of its originators. Im heard some of Kevin Saunderson's music, but I did not know anything else from the other Belleville three. This is why i decided to investigate Juan Atkins (aka Model 500/Cybotron/infiniti). I found a mixed Cd called Metroplex 1985-2005. This included old school techno beats that are quite entertaining.

Stay connected cause there is more to come. Next up Derrick May and Watergate 04.

Minimal House

I'm a day late here and I'm not really sure why. I've had this mix structured since Tuesday evening and it seemed to slip my mind until this morning. Anyways, I've got a little over a half hour of some excellent minimal house and deep house tracks.

Before I get to the mix, I just wanted to share a video of my favorite Paul Kalkbrenner track, Dockyard. We're all huge fans of Berlin Calling at NslL, especially the soundtrack, so I spent this week digging through Kalkbrenner's past and picked up all four of his albums. I highly recommend Self, his album previous to Berlin Calling, which several tracks have been lifted from and re-edited for the movie / soundtrack. Enjoy.

Minimal Haus Mix

Tracklist
The Healer - Ekkohaus
Cloudy Dancer - Luna City Express
Bateria - DJ T.
Unsound - Ekkohaus
State of House (Matthias Tanzmann remix) - 2000 and One
Raw Fruit - Hermannstadt Collective

The Darkness

Seuil's latest release on Freak n Chic, Freak & Violence, is perhaps the most captivating dance track I've heard ever. It's a powerful composition that condemns American values with an extended monologue laid atop dark, somber chords and swells accompanied by a minimal groove. It's fantastic, a night opener that is sure to be heard the world over for months to come.

Freak & Violence as a set opener establishes the tone of the mix; dark, melancholic and evocative.

Mix

Track List

Freak & Violence - Seuil
This is Your House - Micha Klang
Never Mind - Falko Brocksieper
By Chance (Martin Buttrich remix) - Chelxia Chan

New Mix

(where I'm from)

So I thought I'd return from my extended hiatus with a brand new mix. But first, there are a few releases I'm anxiously awaiting.

Balance 015 mixed by Will Saul.
We're all familiar with the Balance Series by now so not much to say really except October 19th cannot come soon enough.

Sounds of the Tenth Season
. Techno king Sven Vath is back for the tenth annual edition of his series highlighting the best tracks of the past Ibiza season. Last year's disc was excellent and I can only expect more of the same skillful track selection and mixing.

Fabric 48 mixed by Radio Slave. Fabric releases these mix cds every other month and last September's was compiled and spun by Radio Slave. Full of dark and deep tech house, it's a superb mix in the series. Well worth checking out.

This week's mix features some light house and tech tunes, a perfect accompaniment to the cold, rainy and snowy weather those of us in the northeast have been subjected to. The unseasonal climate has drawn me to these soft, melancholic tracks. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Mix

Tracklist
1. GoingEasy - Audio Werner
2. La Balada Tzigana feat. Irina Sierra Bravo (Mike Shannon's Haunted Mix) - Andrea Florito
3. Det - Daso & Pawas
4. Serena - Mirko Loko

Here is a short video interview with Sébastien Léger, a blog favourite. He discusses his shift in style characterized by his releases over the past year and his disdain for electro, which with I agree.

New Stimming EPs! New heavy electro remixes!

Hey. Hey hey hey. Stimming of Diynamic has come out with two new EPs, both brilliant as I'm sure you can imagine.

Seriously, just download these to preview them, then go buy the vinyls or whatever, its worth your money.

If you want something much more energetic, something that has tentatively re-lit my faith in electro, check out these Glitch Mob tracks. Seriously heavy stuff, absolutely brilliant:

Ok gotta study n do stuff i dunno, enjoy!

Music for forgiveness? Not a bad deal.

Wow its been a while since my last post, does anyone even read these any more? Its still a nice exercise in philanthropy, given that the stuff I post is mega genius and you all should have it. I must let it speak for itself though. I've prepared a massive post to make up for my absence, I hope you can forgive me.

First we got some electo-house from Mr. Elan and a heavy metal-electro track from Leger;

Then some nice tech-house to chill to, get pumped with, or stay up late because of;

Allegretto (Hector Couto Remix) - Gary Caos

Overcast - Seulo

The Life Wire - Gregor Thresher (there's a bunch of good tracks from his new album, grab it if you can)

Jazzy Stuff - Neuroxyde, Doomwork

O Superman feat. Laurie Anderson (Audiofly X Remix) - M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade (prominently featured in the great City Lights Vol 3 mixed By Kaiser Souzai)

Toxic Love - Popof

And we close with the jewel of recent music, The Twelves new mix!!! AMAZING! A must have;

The Twelfth Hour - The Twelves

Night Vision (Daft Punk cover) - The Twelves

SO I guess this is what I do on this friday night...might as well, it keeps me from drinking while on antibiotics. For the journalistically-minded among you, check out what I do during the day time: Editor's Weblog.

Shout out if you're in Paris and wanna go see some DJs...I think there's some good stuff comin through.

Enjoy!

P.S. I can't wait for this movie:

Guerilla Fart #10 (Woohoo!!!)

Sup sup peeps!

You know I've been waiting for this song since Dada Life put out their last mix. Seems like it's been a million years! So glad I finally got my hands on it. Now that I have it though, I'll pass it onto you...so enjoy :D

Otherwise tho, here's some super sweet Fukkk Offf the guit passed to me. If you haven't picked up the album yet, Love Me Hate Me Kiss Me Kill Me, it's soooooo necessary. Go get it right now. It's got the classics 'Rave is King' and 'Phantom' plus a bunch of sweet new tracks too. In the meantime, check these out. 'I Give You Bass' is a real winner.

Finally, here's some super-indie goodness. Yacht is supercool, plus they really like triangles. Do you like triangles? I like triangles. Guess we all have something in common, so download Yatch.

Back to Ipanema - Lauhaus

Drunken Slumber - Kabuto

Mirko Loko is the latest addition to Cadenza's already impressive roster, and is touring Europe to promote his new album Seventynine. I got to see him DJ at Rex in Paris and it was quite something, check out his unique sound (that takes some getting used to but it grows on you):

Wahwah Express

Hey Dudes,
Life in Mtl is same old, but I'm going to Mexico the 11th. Woo, I mean Wahwah. I'm excited to get out. Its going to be fun. Except my roommate predicted it, I'm coming back with swine flu. Fuck that I say, I'll have my hand sanitizer with me at all times.
Anyway these are some new beats that you should listen. I admit some are old and some are new, but they are all pretty good. There is some techouse, minimal and electro. Check it!

Instabul (Format B Remix)-Luciano Esse and Toni D
This is somewhat of a repost, but the other was remixed, and this song deserves more.

Kikumoto Allstars - I'll Make You Jack
This song has some groovy beats and great vocals.

Ludwig Buez - Losing Tears
Nice melodic beats.

Motor - Thwack
Good song with a driving bass.

Peace For Freaks (Original Mix)- Change
Good bass, good melody, good tunes.

Phoenix - Lisztomania (DerDieDas Remix)
This song has been remixed a bunch since the release, but this mix is pretty awesome.

Voodeux - Just A Spoonful

Gabriele Carasco - Sphere

Fukkk Off - Black Phantom

Black Out (Original Mix)-A. Mochi

Confronted (Original Mix)-Pan/Pot

The Underground Persistance (Part II)-Dusty Kid

Pheasant-Einmusik

Rehabilitation (Dachsound Remix)-Chelonis R. Jones

Factory-Salomun and Jackmate

Samburu (Original Mix) - D-unity

Bakongo (Original Mix) - D-unity

By the way with the signing of Xabi Alonso that means (56+80+35+4{Granero}+4{Arbeloa)+30{xabi})=213 million euros. WTF?
Its gonna be pretty funny if they dont win anything.

By the way H.O.S.H is playing on sunday at Piknik with Roux Soundsystem. I hope to see you all there.

Enjoy!

Hey Today! (It better be better than yesterday)

sup sup punks!

for sure hope you enjoyed your day today a lot more than i did. yeah, today sucked balls. it all started last night at friends party...

i have a few drinks, getting super psyched for dj mehdi, and also meet this really cool guy (hottie!). so far, so good...so the peeps, the dreamboat and i all head off to the show.

we get there and dj mehdi is sooooo quality! i definitely recommend going to see him anytime. he plays a bunch of my favorite tracks, including the proxy remix of what you need (brilliant track by the way). at this point my night is totally bitchin so i thought, what the hell, i'll try get the hottie alone and maybe flirt a bit. we talk for a while and he seems interested. huzzah. i ask him to go for a walk (because trying to have a real conversation with someone in a club is about as easy as trying to fly an airplane through a snow storm)...he says yes (heck yeah!). we find a nice place to sit in the park and it's all smiles and cute looks. i'm thinkin this is a major score...

until this drunk dude shows up. he starts shouting "get out of my hood you fuckers!" "get the fuck out!"

i say "hey man, this is a public park, we can sit here if we want to."

he walks closer, still yelling this ridiculous stuff and threatening us, so i stand up and tell him, "hey man, fuck off. what's your problem anyway?"

prolly not the smartest thing i've ever done, but i was kinda drunk.

the dude rushes me and hits me broad side the head. it doesn't hurt too much, but first there's this high pitched noise, then silence...i can't hear anything out of my left ear.

i couldn't believe it! i'm super sooo pissed he hit me i say, "what kinda fuckin ass hole hits a girl? what the fuck!"

at this point the dreamboat jumps in, but before he can do anything the drunken ass takes a swing and punches the him right in the nose. then tackles him to the ground. what happens next i can't really remember exactly but within a few seconds a security guard shows up and stops the dude from seriously beating on my would be protector. the cops show up at almost the same time and manage to arrest the ass hole.

four hours later the cutie and i leave the hospital after being checked over by a doctor for police records and giving our statements. it's six in the morning and i still can't hear a thing from my left ear.

twenty four hours later (right now) i still can't hear any low frequency sounds and it's driving me nuts, argh!!!! how am i supposed to survive when i can only hear half the bass???? so yeah, today sucked

the upside is that i got to spend a bunch of time with the dreamboat, lol. he got all super protective and cute and really really sweet...walked me home and everything. maybe i should get punched on first dates more often, heh.

in the hopes that tomorrow will be better i'm posting some Hey Today!

ze Germans really know how to crank out some quality music and this stuff is pure, unadulterated electro goodness. hope you enjoy it as much as I do. show em some love on beatport too.

Zombie Nation - Radio Controlled (Hey Today! Remix)
Hey Today! - Walk Through

Vacation tunes

Hi y'all, hows it goin? Greetings from Paris. I presume your summers have been fruitful and funfilled thusfar, as mine has proven to be quite interesting at least. In any case I'm sure you don't care and are here for the music (since if you were really interested in my summer you would know to check here and here).

So we begin with MountainTrance 005, a compilation I downloaded on a whim since I usually don't like trance. But this one was listed as progressive and tech trance ('oooh big difference' I'm sure some of you are saying), and that was enough. Surprisingly my leap of faith was rewarded with this most pleasing mix. Big up to Yonsame for yet again providing great stuff.

1.- Michael Cassette - Winter
2.- And if - Finest Dream (Manuel Tur Instrumental Remix)
3.- Deeper Sublime - August (Original Mix)
4.- Incognet - Wonder Alley (Original Mix)
5.- Kubilay Yksk - Emotion (Original Mix)
6.- Aleksey Beloozerov - Rain Man
7.- DJ Sarmek - Baby's Toys (Cagan Nazlioglu Remix)
8.- Oliver Koletzki - Since You Are Gone
9.- Stan Kolev - Get There (The Quasar's Remix)
10.- Paul Keeley - Trans Am (Original Mix)
11.- A - Xus-Suite Disappointment (Motorcitysoul Remix)

MountainTrance 005 mixed by AM

I figured a few tunes I chose on my own would be in order, but these are kinda old (I was planing on posting them before I left, over two weeks ago) but you know how traveling and wine can be so here ya go:

Thunder - Vanesty

Killer (Original Mix) - Jean Elan

Lamur - Guy J

Speak (Original Mix) - Ee-Sma

As usual these are all highly recommended must-download tunes; If you don't I will find you and force them upon you.

just kidding, enjoy

Flunk - This Is What You Get (2009)

Finally! Flunk came out with their sixth studio album, This Is What You Get. What? You are not excited? You should be. I may be biased, as I have been a Flunk fan for a long time, but this release has exceeded all my expectations. The clever Norwegians normally fall into sleepy-breezy-lo-fi electronica range, with their dreamy rhythms and almost shoegazing feel, and melodies almost dissolving in the air. Now, however, having almost completely reinvented themselves, Flunk play steady. Strong beats, clear melodies, and Anja Oyen Vister's Björk-like vocals may not be finger-snapping, feet-tapping material, but they will definitely set the rhythm. Well... in a relaxing way. Some songs I would even classify as trip-hop. So obviously I'm not promising Alex Gopher or anything, but if it's late and you need to relax after all that dancing, or if it's a rainy day and you feel semi-energetic, this is the stuff. Oh, and did I mention that there is an awesome cover of Radiohead's "Karma Police"? That's right.

A couple of songs to help you make up your mind:

Cigarette Burns

and

Karma Police

The first is City Lights Vol 3 a progressive tech house mix by Kaiser Souzai has seemed to be a hit amongst friends and acquaintances. Dada Life May Mix!!!

Yaaay! Dada Life sent over a brand-new super-fresh mix for y'all (and me too, of course). It's really quite good, technically well-mixed and a great song selection (I like the Zombies! rmx alot). As it is straight from the lion's mouth:

"We didn't have to do a mix for april - too much dj:ing and working in the studio. (Keep your eyes open for a new Alex Gopher-remix as well as a new Malente-remix soon!) Now bring your friends and enemies. Buy a box of bananas and some bottles of champagne. You will need it to really appreciate the fine bouquet of our new May Mix. We're real connoisseurs you know. Yes! The May Mix is full of exclusive stuff. Dip your tongue into an exclusive tune from our upcoming album Just Do The Dada. And sniff the fine oak aroma of the Mr Oizo Remix of Tiga's Shoes."

Here it is: Dada Life - May 2009 Mix

Also check out the video to "Happy Hands & Happy Feet" - the first single from their new album:

Enjoy!

Expediency is not a principle virtue

But seriously folks, 'the advantage of a classical education is that it enables you to despise the wealth that it prevents you from achieving' as some dude once said. Although it is wise to remember that there aren't really any rich psychologists or scientists or sociologists or whatever...these people study what they do because they love it, because learning is an end in itself for them and not for some mere material gain. Education has a tricky place in the means-ends dichotomy, but I feel that 'classical' education (the usual academic fare, not business/management or learning a trade) is most honorably approached as an end...and I feel really bad for those who have a 'corrupted' view of education (as per Aristotle's account of the corruption of moneymakers, who confuse money as an end instead of the means it is).
But once again I'm ranting so here're some sweet tech-house and prog tracks with a little electro thrown in at the end:

The Deejay's An Alien - David Harness & Roland Clark This one's got some pretty funny lyrics

Frühlingserwachen - Audionatica / Claude Staffieri Heavy-hitting for prog, not bad at all

Since You Are Gone - Oliver Koletzki A nice and chill synth adventure

If You Knew (Feed Me Remix) - Chris Lake feat. Nastala Kinda clubby but definitely better than the original, and the editing is genius

Supply & Demand (d.i.m. Rmx Dub) - Fischerspooner Electro, and damn good at that...a nice change from the crap in this genre that's out there these days. D.I.M. has won back some acclaim after that nightmare at Metropolis for Neon's 10th anniversary

These are all great tracks, some are a bit old I know but they're definitely worth having.

Enjoy

Finally!

Hey, yea I know we haven't posted any songs in a while...but there were good reasons! Finals and papers and moving oh my! In any case University is done (with only a measly bachelor of philosophy to show for it) and we're off to a very uncertain future. But that's the appeal, at least for me...more school at this point would just be both boring a waste of youth.
Aaanyway I'm sure you didn't come here to hear some kinda BS I like to spout from time to time, so here are my latest musical picks. I've moved away from just electro recently to embrace tech, tech house, prog and techno a little more so expect the same AMAZING quality tunes from Noirceur-sur-la-Lys but now with more genres!

Sleep On - Stimming

The Beauty - Stimming

From the tech-house/minimal genius of the Diynamic label, Stimming's album Reflections is worth every penny. This genre and label has been the focus of my new musical tastes, but that doesn't mean that the harder and clubbier stuff lacks a place in my heart...as the following tracks demonstrate.

Apocalypse (Sebastien Leger Remix) - Arno Cost & Norman Doray

Use Your Arms - Dapayk & Padberg

Korobiki (club mix) - Sebo Reed The Tetris song! In tha club!

Partouze (Jean Elan remix) - Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso So what if it has a modicum of cheesiness?

Solo (Tepr remix) - Chew Lips Of course we need a little Kitsuné to round things out...but honestly I'm surprised they're still around.

Enjoy, more to come

Return of the Mix

I am back everyone with a fresh mix for your listening pleasure. This week's collection exemplifies the style I am currently immersing myself in; deep tech/house/minimal tunes. All of these songs are new, released in the last month or so. Salvatore Freda and Michel Cleis , two blossoming producers releasing music on Cadenza Records, team up for the standout track in the mix, Sassicaia. A clever melody with endless sonic modulations rests on top of a driving minimal tech groove, delivering a fantastic 9 minutes of music from two rising stars. Michel Cleis made a big splash at WMC when his hit track, La Mezcla, was dropped by Radio Slave among others. I've posted a video below of the track which is well worth downloading.

El Postre (Martinez Deep Moods remix) - Pablo Akaros
Good Vibes - Markus Schatz and Brett Longman
Sassicaia - Salvatore Freda and Michel Cleis
Mambo Jumbo (Guy Gerber remix) - Dop
Gotta Have It (Gorge remix) - Solan

Anyways, this is the first mix I've done with proper CD players and a mixer, all recorded in one shot on a hot Sunday afternoon. Enjoy.

The Proxy Rocks my Block

Hallo hallo peeps!

First up, I've got these two really hard hitting tracks. If I wasn't so afraid of my neighbor across the street (who we've nicknamed intense dad) I'd have these songs cranked up so loud you could feel the bass a mile away.

Yes, they're that good.

The Proxy is this super intense group from Russia. Even if you're not familiar with the name, I'm sure you all must have heard their mega popular track, The Raven. As for Blatta & Inesha, I posted a mix they did with Congorock a few weeks ago but sadly it was removed. For what reason? I can't really say cuz nobody bothered to tell me, but if you managed to catch it before the take down you'll like the track below.

Tiga - What You Need (The Proxy Remix)

Blatta & Inesha - Ain't Nuthing to Fuck With

I just received the Blatta & Inesha today and it came with some DJ Loveboat too. Check out this chill song:

Mesa - Quando As Palavras (Dj Loveboat Louder Refix)

If you'd like some more DJ Loveboat, hit me up at i.ate.the.apple at gmail dot com.

I also just discovered SchlachthofBronx (thank you Brrrln Blog!). I have no idea how you're supposed to pronounce their name but they've got some super sweet tracks. I've never really listened to a whole lot of dubstep, but this stuff is quality.

SchlachthofBronx - Good to Go

Dizzee Rascal - Pussy Hole (SchlachthoBronx Remix)

For more SchlachthofBronx tracks check out this nice post at Munitionen or visit their myspace.

Promo Mix pt. 2

This is the second half of my promo mix, more or less. This mix is the last one I'll be creating with Ableton as I am finally getting turntables in 10 days or so. Next week I wont be posting my own material, but a half hour sample from one of my favourite sets from the past year, although I haven't decided exactly which yet. Enjoy.

Mix

I just have to mention that Phoenix are releasing a new album soon, although its leaked all over internet already. Here is a video of their current single, 1901.

Electroooooooooo

Alright folks, here are some fresh electro tunes, hand chosen by our bloggers and mixed up by yours truly. For me, the standout track is the Mr. Miyagi tune, We Gonna Give You the Lesson. It's an electro/tech house hybrid of sorts that for me is like a nu-rave version of SIS's Trompeta. I've posted a video of the SIS tune, followed by the mix. Enjoy.

Mix
The Girl And The Robot - Royksopp
Dance With Someone Else (Phunk Investigation remix)- Young Punks
Deuteronomy Brown (If edit) - Walter Johnson
Stay the Same (Alex Gopher remix) - Autokratz
Bleep (Saint Pauli remix) - Dirty Disco Youth
Congorock - Never Fuck
Mr. Miyagi - We Gonna Give You The Lesson
Moi J'aime Bien (JFK & St. Mandrew Edit) - Joachim Garraud

Special Mix

Today I have a very special mix for everyone. I've been working for the last few weeks on a promotional set, something to help me leverage gigs spinning in New York City. The full mix will be around an hour in length but I'm only going to the post the first 30 minutes of music. It is essentially a 25 minute crescendo of dark, rhythmic tech house building to the first drop; a track, marked by its acapella elucidating the visceral qualities of house music, by Brothers Vibe. Enjoy.

Progre

Here's a nice progressive house mix for y'all. It starts out deep and crescendos gently to darker, heavier sounds, culminating in a fantastic outro track by Bedrock favourite Guy J. Not much else to say really. Enjoy.

Zombies, Vampires and the Culture Prophet

Hallo hallo peeps!

Got a bunch of music for you today, so get ready for some super sweet tracks. Plus, this month we've had twice as many track downloads as last one. Mega awesome! Thanks everybody!

So here's Culture Prophet. I would write a short bio about them, but since they have a much better one on their official web page, it seems kinda pointless. I will say tho that their riffs are rippin' and the beat is undeniable. Check out their myspace here.

Future Flashs - Take It Out (Culture Prophet Remix)
Digikid-84 - B. Boy Underground (Culture Prophet Remix)
Culture Prophet - Ghetto Bounce
Culture Prophet - Do You Wanna Funk?

So I posted a version of Vektorkat's End Run a few days ago and it's got so many downloads I thought I'd give you a few more. They don't have any official releases yet, and I don't think that they're signed, but I really like them...I guess you do too! Isn't Vektorkat such a cool name? on myspace

Vektorkat - Wyno
Vektorkat - End Run
Vektorkat - Kill My Dog

Bonus: Joachim Garraud - Moi Y'aime Bien Moa (JFK + St Mandrew Edit)

Chateau Flight is a collaboration between two french producers, Chaix and Cohen, who've been making records for more than twelve years. Andy Gellerman on AllMusic says:

Nicolas Chaix (I:Cube) met Gilbert Cohen in the mid-'90s, after he sent Cohen a demo of his productions. At the time, Cohen had just started his Versatile label. Cohen liked Chaix's material enough to sign him, and by the end of 1997, Versatile had released several I:Cube records. Chaix and Cohen eventually began to collaborate as Château Flight.

Their music is super chill, melodic and meditative mixed up with a dash of loneliness. It's something I would listen to while watching puffy clouds float by on a sunny day.

Fact:Versatile records is also home to Joakim

Junesex - Worst Than Love (Chateau Flight Remix)
Chateau Flight - GRN Adventure
Chateau Flight - SuPeRfLiGhT

Bonus: Zombie Zombie - Driving this Road until Death Sets You Free (Joakim Remix)

Speaking of Zombies, Touche has this REALLY cool release.

Touche - Vampires
Touche - Zombies
Touche - Spectres

I love all three songs, but I'd have to say that Zombies is my favorite--simply because there could be no better name for that track :D

Bonus: Who Made Who - The Plot (Noze Remix)
